Sometimes you have some personal data on your hard drive and you don’t want to anyone to this, and it becomes necessary for you to hide it.
Do you want to hide hard drive from your computer, so that no one can approach it? Today I’m gonna show you how to hide your drive without using any software or third-party.

There are many software on the market which are used to hide hard drive on the computer. But actually, you don’t need to buy any of them, because you can do it very easily by doing some easy steps.
Basically, there are two main methods to hide a drive on the computer:
- Manually Hide Drive In Computer
- Hide Drive In Computer Using CMD
So let’s start.
Here I will Hide E drive as an example.
Manually Hide Drive From The Computer
Open Computer Managment
Open your desktop and right click on my computer option. A list of options will be shown to you. Just find the manage option and press the enter button.
Open Disk Managment
When you will click on manage option, a new window will have arrived on your computer screen. Find the ‘ Disk Management ‘ option on the left side of the window.
Change Drive Letter and Paths
After clicking on disk management, a list of drives attached to your computer will arrive. As I’m showing you to hide E drive as an example then I used it here, Otherwise, you should select the required drive name which you want to hide instead of E here. Click on Change Drive Letter and Paths in options arrived.
Remove The Drive
When You will click on Change Drive Letter and Paths option, A new tab will be opened showing you options including Add, Change, and Remove.
You just click on remove. On clicking remove option your computer will ask you to confirm your choice, click on yes option.
After pressing yes option your Drive will be hidden from my computer. But keep in mind that it will be only hidden from MY Computer but not lose your data from the certain drive.
Show Hidden Drive
Open Computer Managment
First of all open home screen of your computer and right click on my computer icon. A list of options will be shown to you. Just find the manage option and click on it.
Open Disk Managment
When you will click on manage option, a new window will arrive on your computer screen. Find the ‘ Disk Management ‘ option in the left side of the window.
Open Change Drive Letter and Paths
When you will click on disk management, a list of drives attached to your computer will show on screen. A blank drive will be shown on the top of the list. This is actually the drive that is hidden on your computer. Just right click on it and click on Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Step 4:
A New window will be opened when you will click on change drive letter and paths. Click on Add. A new window will be arrived on the screen asking you to confirm. Confirm by clicking on the ok button.
After confirmation, your hidden drive will start showing in your My Computer folder.
Hide Hard Drive In Computer With CMD
CMD stands for Command Prompt, also known as cmd.exe. It is the command-line interpreter on windows operating system. We can also remove shortcut virus using cmd. Methos is as follows.
Open Run Prompt
Press ‘WIN+R’ button, a new window will appear on computer screen. Now Type ‘CMD’ in this new window and hit Enter button.
Type “diskpard”
On Pressing enter command prompt will appear on the screen. Now type “diskpart” and press the enter button.
Type “List volume”
Again a new window will appear after pressing enter. Write “List volume” right after the diskpart> and press the enter.
Step 4:
When you will type list volume list of drives will appear on-screen. Now select the required disk that you want to hide from your computer. Here for this tutorial, I m hiding E drive as an example. Therefore I type “select volume e”. You should replace the word “E” with the title of your required disk. Press the enter button.
Step 5:
Type ” remove letter E “ And Enter. Again note that I m hiding E Drive as an example, you should use the name of the required drive which you want to hide from the computer.
Your drive will be hidden after this.
HOW TO GET THE DRIVE BACK?
If you want to restore the hidden drive, Follow first 4 steps of the same process and in 5th step type assign letter E instead of remove letter E.
Your hidden drive will be restored.
